Pantone colour of the year 2016 Rose Quartz and Serenity!

Pantone colour of the year 2016 Rose Quartz and Serenity
I guess you totally not surprised seeing me writing this post! Of course how could I not? Pantone has announced the colour of the year 2016 and there is baby pink Rose Quartz with soft Serenity!

My pastels! When I saw that, I literally screamed with joy! After last year very mature and boring Marsala (Read my post from last year) I am so glad this year is all about fresh and happy colour! image from on left  pantone

Talking about joy, I also wanted to introduce another new kid on the block! Especially that today we have small business Saturday! Joy home BoutiqueNatalie, who studied Fashion buying at Manchester Metropolitan University is the girl behind the lovely brand. After she became a buyer to major retailers on the homeware departments she then wanted to move into something more creative, especially that her passion for interiors with touch of fashion was very strong! She helped to accessories her parents’ home and that’s where the idea of her own boutique first emerged. She wanted to create something different, and Aladdin‘s cave was the inspiration behind her store, where people could browse pretty and unique homeware while drinking coffee and eat cakes.  Joy Home Boutique launched in August  with plans to open a store in Lancashire full of beautiful gifts, cards but also holidng workshops and events. Joy Home Boutique stocks brands such as Bloomingville, Sia Home, Voyage Maison, Bronte by Moon, Anna Jacobs and Lilou et Loic. The brand is dedicated in providing unique homeware sourced from the very latest brands as well as from individual artists and makers to provide individual, unique and high quality product. Most of the artist comes from North West and Joy Home Boutique mostly is working with British brands. What I like in Joy Home Butuque that is right on trend! Just look at these beautiful items on my moodboard! (You can also win £65 goodies from Joy Home, just go to BritishStyleUK giveaway post! Last 7 days!)

Let’s go back to the Pantone colour of the 2016 Rose Quartz and Serenity. I wanted to have a look a little into inspirations. Rose Quartz is the colour of love also known as the love stone! Apparently is supportive for all the broken hearts but also strengthening the bond of the mother and newborns! (Now you know why is so used in kids bedrooms!) You should keep it near computer or tv as can dampen electromagnetic stress! You should keep it close to your heart and keep by your bed! So basically, this would be best colour for apartments, whether bathroom, living room or bedroom! Serenity is the blue sky right after the storm! This is very calm colour and perfect use for relaxations, so perfect for bedroom but knowing myself I could easily go and use in other rooms. As a designer I am always after the RGB, CMYK or HTML values of colours so I made it easier for you and brought it in as well. I can't wait to get a client who wish to work with this colours! How awesome that would be!

These two are perfect combinations from Graham and Brown! So many fab items there!

Sophie in her blog, gave really nice advise how to mature-up the pastels so check out her post! I ahve also talked about elegant pink pastels with copper in this post before! I do agree and I still prefer mix pink with grey rather blu-sh lilac tones! She also showed me this stunning bedroom designed by Wearmaven! Absolutely beautiful and right up my street! Can you not tell? I love how they mixed the colors and adding perfect accessories! Geometry with the metallics combined with pastels is so me! If you look into my latest bedroom update you will see the similarity. Of course I don't have beautifully painted walls, but the copper lighting, geometry on cabinets, and general pastels its something that is very alike!

  1. Love pastels, more for wearing than for decorating. Though I would consider using Serenity for a room.

  8. I was absolutely over the moon with these Pantone choices - mostly because I read the story behind their choosing of these colours and it was all to do with recognising Gender Fluidity in their choices and how the stereotypical blue for boys and pink for girls can be mixed and matched and merged together. Lovely choice!
