Ah we know, it’s coming! The football… I am not usually a great fan of football, but when Poland plays big games I do enjoy watching, or rather, watch enough so I can join in the discussions. This time around, the Polish team has Columbia, Senegal and Japan in their group. Looking at the World Cup odds, where Poland is set at 66/1 to win outright, I am hopeful we’ll end up at least second in the group! Having done some research, hopefully my predictions will be better than when it’s only pure luck involved, like in the lottery.
I’m guessing the football madness won’t die down until England is out, so how do we not-so-keen football fans survive the World Cup girls? Manchester Evening News prepared a whole wallchart with TV fixtures, for those who wish to check and want to download for free – so you won’t miss any game. Download here the wallchart.
The shops are usually nice and quiet when the football is on; especially when England plays. As England is such a multicultural country with people supporting teams from all over the world, there’re bound to be fewer people around in general when the games are on. Just make sure you stay away from shops very close to popular sporting pubs.
With the World Cup on, the regular TV schedule will change and many of your favourite shows may not be shown. So why not use this free time for something you don’t usually have time to do? Perhaps learn a new language, improve your photo skills, go to the gym, learn to sew a quilt, or clear out one of those overfull cupboards.
This might be the time when you can be the colleague everyone wants to have! Offer to swap shifts with your work mates so they can watch the football. This also gives you the perfect excuse to get out of World Cup chatter the next time you’re caught at the water cooler!
If you’re not already working, just head into some cafes, restaurants and shops and ask if they need extra staff during the summer season. You could also sign up with a few local staffing agencies to maximize your chances of some extra work. Just be sure you don’t end up working at one of the many private events organised to watch the World Cup; oh, the irony!

Then once you start writing, then no one can stop you. one of the most addictive hobby ever. Plus, once you establish yourself within blogging industry, you can start earning extra money, which is just cherry on the top.
If you do find yourself joining a group of friends who are insistent on watching the games, even if you don’t really want to, try to make sure you sit at the back with a fully charged smartphone. Take the opportunity to catch up on social media, find deals on Amazon on any other game on your phone.
