I know it so hard sometimes to think of school while the summer is on, the sun is shining especially now in UK, while we have had such a great summer this year. Unfortunately, soon is back to school time and I decided to write this so you can save up some money.
It´s not easy to be able to create an inspirational workspace that will shake the Pinterest pages and grant you 1000likes in Instagram, without spending a fortune on a good furniture or accessorize. Trendy stuff usually is very expensive and you would spend loads of money before you know it.
So let’s look at few tips on how can you get your back to school essentials on a budget.
make a plan first off all, you don’t want to walk to shops or start adding things to your baskets online without a proper plan. It’s easy to get yourself lost with all the pretty items and just buy stuff that doesn´t match. I would suggest doing a mood board first. Gather all the images you like about Pinterest and then cut out and put them together. Then you will see which colour scheme most appeal to you and what items you like. It will save you from having a way to colourful or unmatched items. The organisation is a key and to create a great workspace it has to plan carefully. Think of ergonomics of the space, how far is to reach out for items not be buried under boxes etc. You want to be able to quickly and easily reach out for any important books, pencils etc.
go with neutrals You have to remember the one important rule in interior design is to keep your base neutral. You can then go absolutely crazy with any other items. For example, keep your desk, flooring and walls neutral and any other decorations like lighting storage etc can be as crazy as you wish. Remember, your room was not the only function in sleeping but also to work and relax so you also don´t want to create to the vibrant environment so it won’t disturb your sleep or relaxation time.
look out for discounts before you reach out for expensive designer items, check out first places where recently you can get best discounts. My favourites would be PrimarkHome, HomeSense or check for online deals especially check discount codes for Marks and Spencers as we all know how good they are with back to school essentials.
do your diy you all know I am such a huge fan of DIY and my first thing would be to upcycle old items rather spend money on expensive stuff. You can make your own storage boxes from old magazines, pencil holders as well as decorations. I have done a post previously about Instagrammable desk space so check out for more inspirations.
go personal one of the most important part of creating great workspace is getting it personal. If you are renting your student accommodation and are away from home, then don´t forget to pack all your personal quotes, images of friends and family as well as small ornaments that remind you home. This way you will save money on spending on an expensive artwork and just buy cheaper frames or create DIY once as mentioned above.
Remember, to create great and functional workspace it doesn’t take much of a budget but careful planning and a little of DIY skills.
