When it comes to Christmas gifting, nothing can bring a bigger smile like DIY gift, especially when you make your own package as well. Today, I am back with another SwiftHomeHack with SwiftCover and I’ll show you how to make DIY homemade bath salts with rose and lavender. It’s a great looking gift but also it has fantastic health and beauty benefits, so it’s a perfect gift for literally anyone!
You will need:
1. Epsom salt that can benefit your skin. It’s useful with muscles aches but also can be a great exfoliant and even treat sunburn.
2. Himalayan salt is another great salt that detoxes your body, prevent muscle cramps, reduce the sign of ageing and help with sleep patterns.
3.Rose petals & lavender can smooth your skin, calm your body and it’s a great source of antioxidants and vitamin C.
4.Relaxing essential oil. I have chosen relaxing oil to complete the circle of health benefits.
5. Old jars with crew cap. (even the mayonnaise ones!)
6. Pieces of linen in any colour.
7. Food colourant in pink
8. Spoon and mixing bowl.
9. Glue
10.Twine & label
Filling the jars. Start with measuring equal amount (half and a half) of each salt to your chosen jar leaving a small gap at the top. This is where you will add your rose petals and lavender.
Mixing salt. Pour your salt from both jars into mixing bowl and stir, until all the salt its mixed together.
Food colourant. Add 3-4 drops to your mixed salt. Mix slowly and if you feel the colour is not strong enough add additional 2 more drops. Depends on of colour you want to achieve, I wanted very pastel pink shade (obviously!)
Essential oil. Sae as with food colourant, as essential oil about 4-5 drops. You can do more, but let the petals and lavender do the job as well, so don’t go over the board with it. Mix everything together until you have with the mixture.
Adding petals and lavender. Take a good handful of petals and lavender and mix with your salt. Give a good stir of everything and put on the side.
Filling. Feel your jars with salt, again remember to leave a gap on top then take a handful of rose petals and lavender again and fill the gap on top.
Making packaging. Cut the square shape of linen and put on the side. Glued your screw cap and stick your cloth onto it.
Closing. Close the cap and screw it and just tight around with your twine. Write the name and ingredient on the label and baby, you were done it!
