How to Make Your Home Cosy this Christmas
You’ve bought and wrapped the presents and posted the cards, decorated your tree and planned the perfect festive feast. All you have to do now is make your home feel comfortable for the coming Christmas celebrations.
If you’re still looking for ways to create a cosy space in which to snuggle up with your loved ones this 25 December, here are some inspired ideas to help you prep your home.

Warm Things Up
Keeping the heat in is crucial over the winter months. Check for draughts and start adding excluders and insulating tape to places where you think the heat could be escaping. Be sure to leave curtains open during the day in order to draw in the heat from the wintry sunlight then draw them as soon as the sun sets so you can keep the heat in and add an extra layer of insulation.
Another way to warm everyone up is to add a rug to your room, especially over thin carpets or floorboards. Investing in a thicker rug can cover any gaps in the floor and will provide extra warmth for your feet.

Also, ensure your radiators are working at their full capacity. Check them to see if they need bleeding by turning your heating on and feeling the top of each radiator. If they feel cooler at the top than at the bottom, you may need to use a bleed key to release the pressure and get it working properly again.
Light it Up
The days are darker for longer right now, so make sure you are letting the light in around the home. Keep things cosy by avoiding bright lights and using the soft glow of candles, dimmed lamps and – of course – the fairy lights on your tree.
Strategically place lamps so that you can see what you’re reading and make sure you get the right balance of soft and safe lighting – you don’t want anyone to fall over on Christmas Day!

Add Some Scents
Warming cinnamon and fresh fir are wonderfully festive scents to add to the room. For the best effect, opt for essential oils like these from Neal’s Yard. As

Soften Up
Cushions and throws are a fantastic way to invite everyone to take a seat and settle into a mixture of furry, fluffy cushions and soft woollen blankets designed to soothe you this season. Cuddle up with your loved ones and enjoy the snuggly fabrics as you watch a festive film or two.
