Isn’t it great to book a weekend getaway and do literally that – get away – for just a couple of days? Whether you go by yourself, with a partner, with friends, or with your family, the fact that you’re doing something different and not sticking to the usual routine can be enough to blow the cobwebs away and make it really worthwhile.
If you want to make it extra special, though, you’ll want to upgrade your weekend in some way, and that’s not always an easy thing to think about – what can you do? With that in mind, here are some hints to help you get started so you can turn your weekend getaway into something that’s absolutely next level.
Plan Ahead
So this first point might come across as a little boring, but hear us out – it might not be the most fun idea in the world to start with, but once you get going, planning can be hugely enjoyable, and it can make the weekend a lot better so, so it’s a great path to take.
Firstly, planning means you’ll never be at a loss for things to do, so there’s not going to be a chance anyone’s going to get bored, which is a disaster when you’re away from home and trying to have a nice time. Plus, it means everyone gets to see and do at least one thing they’d like to see or do, which keeps everyone happy. On top of that, the planning itself is fun because you’ll find out a lot more about where you’re going and you might even find some hidden gems to visit when you get there that you would have entirely missed out on before.
Choose A Good Hotel
There are lots of places you can stay when you go away for the weekend, but if you want to upgrade things and make the weekend special, you should look at hotels – they’re the best option when it comes to accommodation for many reasons, including comfort, location, and very often price as well.
However, if you want to get things right, the key is to research your hotel – and other hotels as well – to make sure you’re choosing wisely. Every hotel is going to be different, so you’ll need to make a list of must-haves that are non-negotiable, and read plenty of reviews to help you see which hotel is worth your money. If you can get the hotel right, you’ll be safe and comfortable, and you won’t have anything to think about other than having a good time.
Explore Like A Local
One of the best ways to upgrade your weekend getaway is to explore wherever it is you are like a real local. In other words, don’t do all the usual tourist attractions, but instead look for the less well-known things to do and places to go (or, if you really want to see the main attractions, just make sure there’s time to do the more local things well, then you’ve ticked all the boxes).
If you can do that then you’ll have a unique experience that will often be a lot more memorable and fun than doing the standard stuff would be, and it’s certainly going to upgrade your weekend away.
