We all know that when you want to rent a property there is a lot of hassle, especially if you want to rent via an agency. Many students would rather stay in their noisy halls or continue to live with parents as they are too scared of the fees and the complicated process of renting. I am not blaming them at all.
The one thing with renting is that we all want to feel secure. This is why many people decide to rent via an agency as then, the papers and references are all checked on both sides, and you know that everything is legal and you won’t get scammed. However, the fees these days are so high that many people can’t afford it. This is where the private renting sector is useful. Although some may think renting via a private landlord can be risky sometimes as you don’t know that person, and you can’t check your landlord either. As we are the Generation Y or Millennials, we are definitely tech savvy and we do constantly seek new technologies and new ways of making improvements to our lives. Anything we would do, so we can keep the label of being the laziest generation, and yes stay at home and using search engines – it’s easier after all!
New kid on the block. The good thing is that this is all changing now and we have a little help to keep the tech savvy tag. There is a new kid on the block; Letproof.com and they are the Airbnb of private renting. Letproof just launched last month and the idea sounds just perfect for those who want to rent their flat without paying ANY fees to the landlord (well you still pay rent and deposit of course) but you won’t be charged any additional cover fees. This is a quick way to find a property, as all you do is use their simple search box to find the property in your area and matching your requirements. You are in a total control of the whole process and Letproof also offer credit check for tenants, so it’s super friendly to landlords as well. I am sure that even Generation Z will approve it, especially because everything is kept online with access at any time from your mobile, laptop or desktop. Forget the piles of contracts and waste of paper.
Hassle free. Imagine, that you no longer have to deal with any agencies, and instead build a trusted relationship with your landlord, or tenant. Letproof offer transparent and quick search for a new property, where you can filter your choices and sign up for the property you are interested in. Once you’re matched with your chosen property you will get an online credit check and vetting feature, which means tenants can be pre-approved. Then you can go ahead and move in!
Something for both. Letproof also offers great advice for both landlords and tenants, so once you sign up don’t forget to regularly check the Letproof blog and check the landlord toolbox which helps the landlord to find their tenants and advertise better. It’s free for landlords to sign up and use for now but there will be a further charge of as little as 10p per day for landlords per property.
The private renting sector is gaining more interest lately and with new letting fee ban introduced by Chancellor Philip Hammond, we still worry though that once the fees are down that rental prices will rise accordingly. Agencies will always find ways of getting us poor tenants ripped off. This is why the future is with Letproof.com where you can rent your flat, with no fees from a private landlords and feel secured like you would rent via an agency minus the hassle. A perfect platform to connect landlords with tenants with no extra fees.

A Guide to Getting Ready for Autumn

Thank you Anna, this sounds amazing! For my current and final year at Uni I ALMOST rented a usual place (rather than a student flat) via an agency but the whole thing fell through because of them. I was scared away of renting via agencies again, so when I move out of my current student flat in the summer I am certainly going to look into this!
Love, Jon x
This is a very useful post – Letproof sound like a very handy resource
This is a really interesting post and definitely sounds like something worth looking in to if you were about to rent! We have rented both through an agency and privately and definitely prefer privately renting. Sometimes with renting it can be as much about finding the right landlord as it is the right house! x
This sounds brilliant, I've always gone through agencies when renting just for the peace of mind, but it's good that there's an alternative available! I'm hoping to move out in 2017 (living with my parents is driving me slowly mad!) so I'll definitely be bearing this in mind 🙂
I've done private lets 3 times and through an agency once and had more hassel with agency. Had one amazing private landlord. Sometimes an agency is good because if work needs done they make it happen, whereas if it's private they avoid it for longer (in my experience) x
What a useful informative post. I have never heard of this company before.
A really useful post, we're lifetime renters as I seriously doubt we will be in the position to own our home within the near future and it's a real nightmare trying to negotiate moving to a decent property even with a letting agent involved!
