As we all know, every occasion has a dress code.
If you’re heading to a corporate event, there is a certain etiquette to follow. If a high-end party is your thing, this is where you may even source tips from the movies.
However, something that tends to prompt a few fashion faux pas’ is the classic house party. Whether it is with the neighbours, or at your best friends, there are certain do’s and don’ts when it comes to dressing for this environment.
Through today’s post, we will now take a look at some of these tips to help you along your way.

Go to town with your shoes
For females in particular, shoes are something of a minefield. The great heels dilemma will always exist and for a lot of us, if we’re hitting the city, we will opt to play it safe and not even consider the H-word.
Well, this is where a house party is a little different. This is where you don’t really have to consider your footwear. Fancy wearing completely unsuitable heels? That’s fine. What about those scruffy trainers? That works as well.
Chances are, you might even have to remove your footwear as you enter the party, so this is one area where you don’t have to think too seriously about.

Don’t be afraid of going casual
If we were going to hone in on another common dilemma, it’s about how casual you should be looking to dress.
Well, once again, this is where house parties come to the rescue. You don’t have to worry about dressing down too much; after all, you are only visiting your friends and anything really should go. By dressing down you aren’t going to raise any eyebrows, and you can go for a social look that you will have never once considered.

This is your chance to experiment
This next suggestion is very close to some of the other ones we have mulled over. As we all know, you wouldn’t dream of stepping outside the house in some styles – even if they have worked their way into the mainstream over the last few years.
In other words, we each have our own style, and deviating away from this is difficult to say the least.
However, house parties give you the chance to experiment. While the term “anything goes” isn’t quite accurate, there’s no doubt that you do have room to experiment with styles that you wouldn’t usually have the courage to try. For example, if your go-to outfit is laid-back and casual, you can try going vintage and be dressier instead. Jazz up your look by wearing jewelry, but don’t pile on the bling and ice all at once. Choose your diamonds carefully for a subtle but classy look.

Make the most of the indoors
As we all know, when you venture into public, you do have the weather to contend with. In other words, in the middle of winter you’re unlikely to be able to go out bearing a lot of skin.
Again, this is where house parties offer something different. Sure, you might need a jacket for that short stroll to the taxi, but other than that you are protected by central heating for the entire evening and this should be something you embrace.
